Current Funding Priorities
Each year the Committee of Management will meet with members and stakeholders to determine the short-term and long-term funding priorities for the Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation. The funding priorities will align with the Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service Macquarie Island Nature Reserve and World Heritage Area Management Plan.
Conservation Priorities 2023
Priorities for 2023 are currently being finalised and will be available here prior to the official launch in February.
Engagement and Outreach
Each year we will continue to connect with the community to raise awareness and excitement about Macquarie Island. Your contribution will allow us to participate in Community Festivals, develop outreach materials, visit school groups and more. In the first few years we will use funds to build outreach material and explore opportunities to allow the community to explore the island from back at home.
Grant Rounds
The Foundation will hold small grant rounds to help support students, researchers and the community achieve targeted conservation projects for Macquarie Island. A grants sub-committee will assess the applications and make a recommendation to the Committee of Management on which projects should be supported. We will advertise each grant round on social media and promote the outcomes of the projects on the webpage and through newsletters.
