Macquarie Island Field Guide
The Macquarie Island Field Guide is the first definitive, digital field guide for Macquarie Island. It includes all of the birds and seals that breed on the island, all of the vascular plants, introduced pests and weeds, a selection of unique or dominant insects and seaweeds, common whales/dolphins and historical information for extinct and eradicated vertebrates. It features detailed information of approximately 130 species in total.
The Field Guide is suitable for a range of users including researchers, tourists, expeditioners, educators and students. It helps users identify and learn about the island’s unique flora and fauna, provides a tool to assist in monitoring, and provides a point of connection to the island’s treasured natural values.
The Macquarie Island Field Guide App is available on the App store (Apple) and Google Play (Android). It works offline, so is great to use in the sub-Antarctic! It also features a My Sightings functionality, so you can curate your own sightings list of the island’s species.
