The island’s irreplaceable ecosystem is experiencing dramatic changes after the eradication of invasive pests from the island, coupled with a changing climate. While some species are recovering after pressure from invasive species or harvesting, others are declining for reasons that are not always clear. Long-term monitoring data and research programs are needed to understand what factors may be driving these changes in species abundance and distribution.
