Photo Competition Terms & Conditions

Please note that these terms grant the Foundation certain rights to use the submitted photos while ensuring that the photographer receives proper credit:

Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation Photo Competition - Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility:

The Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation Photo Competition (the "Competition") is open to all individuals aged 18 years and older, regardless of location.

Employees, volunteers, and board members of the Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation are not eligible to participate.

2. Submission Deadline:

The Competition runs from 5th October 2023 - 3rd November 2023

3. Entry Categories:

There are five categories for photo submissions:

Flora

Wildlife

Landscapes

People at Work

History and Heritage

4. Photo Specifications:

All photos must be in digital format and submitted electronically via the designated submission platform.

Photos must be original and taken by the entrant.

Minor post-processing (cropping, color correction, contrast adjustments, etc.) is allowed, but heavy manipulation (adding or removing objects, significant alterations) is not permitted.

Each entrant may submit a maximum of 1 photo per category.

Photos must adhere to appropriate Wildlife Approach distances.

5. Rights and Usage:

By entering the Competition, entrants grant the Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation the non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, and display the submitted photos in Foundation publications, promotional materials, websites, and social media channels, with proper attribution to the photographer.

Entrants retain copyright ownership of their photos and may use them for purposes in accordance with Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife guidelines.

6. Judging and Prizes:

Photos will be judged by a panel selected by the Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation.

The judges' decision is final and binding.

Prizes will be awarded to the top entry in each category, as well as People’s Choice Award.

7. Notification and Prize Acceptance:

Winners will be notified by email or phone within seven days of the judging.

Winners must respond to the notification within seven days to claim their prizes.

8. Privacy:

Entrants' personal information collected for this Competition will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Competition and will not be shared with third parties.

9. Disqualification:

The Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who violates these Terms and Conditions or provides false information.

Photos of wildlife that are deemed by the Foundation to be exhibiting stress in response to the photographer's presence will be excluded from the competition.

10. General:

The Foundation reserves the right to cancel or modify the Competition at any time and for any reason. - By participating in the Competition, entrants agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
